Or maybe you are an experienced or former lifeguard looking to help out in your free time? The RNLI has been operating a lifeguard service in the UK since 2001 and it's now an integral part of our commitment to saving lives at sea. The expansion of our service continues, and in 2019 the RNLI will be patrolling over 200 beaches around the coast of England, Scotland, Wales, Jersey and Northern Ireland. The RNLI have a number of volunteering opportunities available for the 2019 season including Volunteer Lifeguard Support roles. As a Volunteer Lifeguard Support: You’ll assist the lifeguards and be part of daily lifeguard operations on the beach. You will need at least a valid Lifeguard Support Award to carry out this role. Individuals undertaking these roles will need to uphold the values and reputation of the RNLI and present a helpful and courteous image to the public. You will need to have excellent people skills along with the ability to maintain a level of professionalism at all times. The roles will be based at various locations across the UK and Northern Ireland. Some of the beaches use 4x4 and all terrain vehicles so a full driving license is helpful, but not essential. The time commitment required for these roles is flexible and will depend on the needs of each area. All applicants for this volunteer role must be at least 16. Non EU residents will need to provide documentation from the UK Boarder agency stating their right to volunteer in the UK /ROI This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced criminal records check. The RNLI is committed to safeguarding; ensuring the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment. This will include relevant criminal record checks being carried out dependent on the eligibility of the role.
